Liz Yager, Energy & Sustainability Division Manager 2009 Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy Fellow
As the Energy and Sustainability Manager for the County of Sonoma, Liz Yager’s goal is to facilitate and track green house gas emission reductions in the County while collaborating with other agencies and organizations on regional climate initiatives. These responsibilities include managing the innovative Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP), the first such program in the nation to provide financing to property owners for energy efficiency, water conservation and renewable energy generation, paid back through the property tax system. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science degree and postgraduate study in biomedical engineering, electronics, and program management. Recent certifications are centered on sustainability: building performance, Home Energy Rating Systems and photovoltaic installation.
Before joining the County she not only enjoyed a career as a golf pro, but also 18 years in the high tech industry of Silicon Valley working in the areas of Information Technology (IT), scientific instrumentation and process engineering.
Liz is passionate about continuous process improvement, lifelong learning and the importance of equity in a sustainable future.
